Difster, the lesbian, says (on my nifty new sidebar comments):
I do have a nice photo of myself holding an AK-47 at my aunt's place in the country. But, I don't think it would be intimidating to psychos and they are out here - one is all it takes.
For my peace of mind, I'll keep my identity hidden as best I can. I've had my share of problems with unwanted attention. You guys don't fully grasp how it can be for a single woman. I'm not paranoid, but I'm not stupid either. Also, I have always been a very private person.
This medium is appealing to me in that I can interact with people and still remain anonymous and maintain my privacy. Also, I'd like to be able to rant to my little heart's content without having some wackos intimidate me. It is not uncommon in this blogging business from what I understand.
I made a music video for Res a while back with a little intro and have gotten emails through the YouTube account from men and they weren't interested in Pachelbel... Just from my voice! Geesh, the mind boggles to think what I could do through the Internet if I half-tried.
I've learned to keep a very low profile when in the public arena. Even in private, there's always the Para .45 or S&W .38 Special loaded with hollow point bullets within arm's reach. I have a neighbor who has been making himself increasingly intrusive. He showed up at my back door the other evening out of the blue. I do not appreciate that as I have never given him the slightest indication that I am interested in him.
Besides all that, you guys already think I'm a tease as it is. Forget it.
Taylor, I agree with Res. But I think you should have a picture of you posed with firearms. It might be sufficiently intimidating to some and well, the rest of us will be quite pleased.

I am mostly anonymous as well. Many of the bloggers that I communicate with off the blog know my real name; which can be found if one looks hard enough. And with some serious detective work you could probably figure out my last name. I'm just not going to make it easy.
I don't have a problem with posting pictures though since it wouldn't be easy to find me that way. I see you point about stalkers though; women deal with that stuff far more than guys do.
And I do know where to find a picture of you Taylor but in the interest of discretion, I won't reveal that information. LOL

I can understand a single woman wanting it that way, they may end up having drunken weirdos from foreign countries finding them and posting comments and shit.
Me, well, that's my real name, yep I'm from Adelaide. Fucking Barnesy came out of the same British immigrant northern suburbs I did, though not the same one. Barnesy was the one who wrote that song Working Class Man, you might know it, it was in a 1986 yank film. On Australia Day we honour legends like Barnesy who helped define our culture.

I don't get creeped out by men's attention - well, not most men's. On the contrary, I rather enjoy it. It's only when strangers just pop out of nowhere that it's scary. And that's happened on enough occasions that I'm very wary.

I'm with you on the anonymity thing. You just don't know what kind of nutjobs are lurking. Plus it does give you a kind of freedom to say what you want. Do you tell your friends, family and workmates about your blog? Just curious.

I, for one, dont tell family and friends of my blog. They simply dont need to know and everyone thinks I am weird already so there is no reason to feed that fire.

All I can say is, the picture I have in my mind of Taylor is one smoking hot babe!! Now if the picture in my mind and reality are in conflict, to heck with reality, I like that other picture.
Seriously, I am also leery about putting out too much info about myself. Call some raghead a nutjob for following the religion made up by a raving lunatic child molester, they might decide to come find me and harm my family or something.
Taylor, I like the thumpsnap thing you did to my homepage header. But I think I would like to use different pictures, can you tell me how to do that?? Also, can you or some one tell me how link an article so that you can click on it an go directly to that article???

No, Sparrow. I work on the computer from home and nobody knows what I'm up to here. The only one who hangs around when I'm on here is my cousin and he can't speak English! Besides, he knows what a nut I am anyway.
I'm glad you're enjoying my blog. It's humbling to know that some very intelligent and capable people stop by. Kind of makes me squirm a bit. I've never been the type to put myself out there.

Well, you're not alone there. I am the oddball in my family, but they love me anyway. They do respect my eccentricities and aren't surprise by anything I come up with. I always used to say that they kidnapped me as a child and never got the ransom, so were stuck with me... Except, I look exactly like my mother.

I think along the same lines. I have very strong opinions about those sons of Satan and I will post on them eventually.
I will be happy to help you set up an image in your blog header. I'll walk you through it step by step whenever you're ready. It's a little more involved than what we did before.

I think if you can stay as anonymous as possible that you should. You're right in that guys just can't understand the creepy stalker thing. There's just nothing quite like listening to your answering machine in college and the guy saying "why don't you pick up the phone? I can see that your home because your light is on." And this was back in the days before the ubiquitous cell phones.

SB, don't remind me of the unnerving calls and messages. You never know where those will lead.
I've been awakened in the middle of the night with a guy trying to break into my apartment. Thank God I'm a very light sleeper, but I had no gun! I ran to the kitchen and got the two biggest knives that I had. Figured he could not grab BOTH hands at the same time. I stood on the other side holding the deadbolt from being turned while dialing 911.
There were the strangers exposing themselves to me in public starting from the age of 8 on up, peeping toms at my window as a teenager, etc, etc...
Oh, yes. I've had my share of unpleasant experiences. And I was raised in a protected environment!
The other day a man that I did not know was at my door. I didn't answer and he finally went away. Somehow it triggered the memory of that night in the apartment. My heart started pounding like crazy. I walked straight to my room and got my .45. Heart rate returned to normal instantly. There's nothing like a .45 with a full magazine to give one a warm cozy feeling. Well, a big hunk of a lovely man with a .45 would be better... but... that's for another thread...

Only related to single women, I've never had a high heart rate to a crazy cunt in my street, cricket bats are great for that, you don't have to constantly commit murder to right things, which is the logical conclusion if you actually use guns properly. Anyhow, a woman needs a man to protect them, not a gun. Here guns used properly is jail time. And so it should be. People committing petty crimes like breaking into cars do not deserve murder in return.
I'd like to see the real statistics not money powered lobby group statistics for guns used 'properly' and guns used irresponsibly in the US. I'm sure the NRA wouldn't like it to be found that guns, when actually used in action, have only been used to commit crimes, and rarely could account for some heightened Patrick Swayze Roadhouse style shit.

There is so much money and power behind the Second Amendment though, that I'd expect a $1000 an hour yank lawyer to lecture me. I'm glad guns were not written into our constitution or founded our country. Fuck me.

If you guys had hills like Afghanistan you wouldn't even have to worry about being invaded, the terrain is too difficult, and even more so, you can use that as an excuse to write a book about how guns did it all!

Sweet Nothings? Hmmm, I prefer to think of them as sweet somethings. I treat you like most ladies, except MOTL, but she earned my scorn. My speech and manners with you are meant specifically to not make you "squirm".
I do understand how women feel SB, it's not rocket science and despite what your average woman would say if they knew my attitude, my manner with women is meant to lessen any intimidation they may feel. If I'm going to talk dirty to Taylor it has to be under circumstances that she has accepted. Men who impose on, or intimidate women show severe moral weakness.
Jan 26, 2007 22:00
Taylor ~
EN, I hope you don't think that I am some shrinking violet and need to go out of your way to not be intimidating in your manner or speech. I really don't squirm that easily when interacting with men. Far from it - I am very comfortable around men - that is, the men that I choose to be around.
The behavior of most normal, sane men will not be intimidating to a woman - even if they may be a cad, rude, forward, disrespectful, crude, unrefined, talking dirty, etc. She may not want to have much to do with the man who exhibits ungentlemanly qualities, but she's not going to feel intimidated. Polite society is not very polite anymore. We are quite thick skinned.
What would cause most women to squirm and feel intimidated by a man comes from behavior that would indicate a fixation, obsession, not accepting her rejection of him or thinking that he has some rights to her which he clearly does not have. Those are the ones that sound off alarm bells.
Jan 27, 2007 09:12
EN ~
You're no shrinking violet, and you come off as very tough, which is admirable. Treating you, or any other woman (other than MOTL) with politeness and respect insures that one doesn't overstep, particularly in a setting that's both casual yet distant, like this. Bane and Jamie would disagree, but each to his own.
With men it's different, there are few boundaries. Explaining to each other what we'd like to do with their younger sister, in graphic detail, is normal. It's just common sense to not challenge someone who is physically weaker then you by asserting your strength. In fact it's weakness.
There's an absolute double standard in the way I treat women and men, with no apologies (The fems are likely picking my reeducation camp as I write this. There's also the fact that it's enjoyable being polite and complimentary to lovely women. It's a dance.
