Things were going their way at 0-0 until a double substitution in the 67th minute put Messi and Mascherano on the pitch, spoiling Paraguay's plans in the 79th minute.
And Abbondanzieri must have regained some confidence with his performance today. It could have been a different ending had he not made a couple of good saves.
As the only unbeaten team in the Copa, Argentina goes into the quarter finals with some well rested starters against Peru on Sunday.
